The Florida based band, Atheist, is planning to record and release their second studio album after their reformation, which will be the fifth in the band’s lifespan. The band is collaborating with Jason Suecof, who will be their producer, and the album should be released any time now.
The band’s vocalist, Kelly Shaefer, has hinted that the band is working on something new. The arrival of Tony Choy means that the band will be able to explore several possibilities with their rhythms.
Tony Choy, who has worked previously with the band as the bassist will be reprising his role for the new album. Steve Flynn has also rejoined the band along with Jason Holloway and Chris Martin.
Jason Suecof was chosen as the producer because of his deep knowledge and understanding of the band’s history and mode of operation. He shall be involved in both the recording and the mixing processes.
In an unforeseen move, the band has also signed a management deal with the Extreme Management Group, based in New York. This will be the first time that the band will be working under management. The band chose to work with that particular company because several other bands familiar to Atheist have worked with the company and have been successful.
Atheist’s first three albums are considered pioneering works in technical music and were released in a new format two years ago in June. The albums were remastered versions of the originals and were marketed as collectors’ editions since they were released in limited numbers.
Atheist’s latest album, Jupiter, which was released in 2010, prove to the world that the band had not lost it touch. Band members will be hoping for a repeat of the 2010 hit album. Atheist also worked together with Jason Suecof on Jupiter, where he was the mixer.
